Health & Safety Policy
Last Updated: February 16, 2026
Codergarten is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment. Our goal is to ensure every student can focus on learning and creativity without risk to their wellbeing.
1. A Healthy Start
Because Codergarten operates in various community spaces, we prioritize venue-specific safety:
- Safety Walkthroughs: Educators perform a walkthrough of the space before every session to identify potential hazards.
- Clear Access: We ensure all emergency exits and walkways are kept clear of equipment and bags.
2. First Aid & Medical
- Trained Staff: All Codergarten educators hold valid First Aid training. A dedicated first aid kit is kept within reach at all times.
- Allergies (Anaphylaxis): Parents must provide a copy of their child's ASCIA Action Plan for any high-risk allergy. We are a "nut-aware" organization and ask parents to avoid packing nut-based products.
- Medication: We do not administer medication unless previously agreed upon in writing for emergency situations (e.g., EpiPens).
3. Staying Well
- Contagion: To protect all students, please keep your child home if they are experiencing symptoms of illness (fever, persistent cough, etc.) until they are symptom-free for 24 hours.
- Hygiene: We encourage regular hand sanitizing. We periodically sanitize laptops and shared tools to maintain a clean environment.
4. Digital & Physical Care
- Active Breaks: To prevent eye strain and fatigue, we incorporate short "stretch and move" breaks every 45-60 minutes.
- Equipment Safety: All electrical equipment undergoes periodic safety testing (PAT). Cables are managed carefully to minimize trip hazards.
5. In an Emergency
- Evacuation: In the event of an emergency, educators will lead students to the venue's designated assembly point.
- Communication: Once all students are safe, parents will be notified immediately via SMS or WhatsApp as per the primary contact details provided during enrollment.
- Reporting: All safety incidents or "near-misses" are documented using our internal Incident Report Form to help us improve our standards.
