Comic Club
Tell your story. Draw your world.
THE CHALLENGE
Comic Club is where kids become the author, the artist, and the storyteller — all in one term.
Facilitated by Ginny Jeong, students build an original character from scratch, learn how professional comics work, and create a real, finished mini comic they can hold in their hands. Every week builds on the last: shapes become characters, characters get emotions, emotions drive a story, and stories become a portfolio.
The course starts with pencil and paper — because that's where every great comic begins. In the later weeks, students step into digital tools, using iPad and Sketchbook to add colour and polish to their work.
By the final session, every student walks away with a complete portfolio: an expression sheet, a pose sheet, and a character-led mini comic with a beginning, a problem, and a resolution. Not a practice run — a finished piece of work they made themselves.
The course closes with a gallery showcase where students present their comics as the artists they've become.
